The Story behind The Framing of a New York Mets Jersey for Travis Taijeron
Every once in awhile, we get an opportunity to work on a unique project for a Pro MLB Player, as was the case with this game-worn jersey for Travis Taijeron, who plays for the New York Mets as an Outfielder.
It all started with an email from Dayna Taijeron, who was inquiring about Framing her husband's game-worn Mets jersey along with his MLB debut line up card, his first major league home run ball and his first major league hit ball, as well as nameplates and photos.
I can only imagine what a special memory this must be for a player, who's dreamed of playing in the major leagues or NFL or NBA, to be able to relive his very first game, not to mention, first home run. wow!
The Process of Framing this Game-worn Jersey
In general Framing a Jersey is one of the most difficult pieces of Art you can frame, not only because of the complexity of removing the wrinkles and stretching it properly but also because you have to figure out the best design that tells the story that will help the player relive that magical moment where a dream became a reality. This is what drives our design from beginning to end.
Materials, Color Scheme and Memorabilia Placement and Mounting
For the color scheme we chose our black suede as the top matting with a strong, bold orange accent and we mounted the jersey on our glossy silver backing so that it would pop. The 2 baseballs were mounted on our black suede as illustrated above.
The design around the jersey is often driven by the way the sleeves fold with each jersey and thus the design we chose for it around the sleeves. Each ball includes its corresponding nameplate and for the large line up card, we chose to incorporated at the bottom center, over the jersey. So far, so good.
4" Deep Black Shadowbox Frame
Finally the Frame, whenever we incorporate an item that is deeper than 2" we have to resort to our 4" deep black frame, which was the case here, as you can see below.
The Reveal: Drum roll please
With all the work we have, it took us about 4 weeks to finish it and we were extremely please with how it turned out. I gave Dayna a call and she said that Travis would also be able to come to the store for the reveal and we couldn't wait. I asked them if I could record a little bit of their first impressions and she agreed. Here you go:
Finished Photos and Testimonials
This is one of our favorite projects by far and we are please that both Dayna and her husband absolutely loved the finished product. Here's what she wrote on our Google page about her experience with us!
